Mula: The Origin

Mula is a call back to the origin; a call back to the essence of Indian attire.

We craft calm silhouettes, pure natural fibers, and quiet confidence. We don’t design for the runway.

We design for quintessential presence, bringing you apparel that moves with you and still makes a confident statement.

OUR STATEMENT

Our Statement: Quiet over Noise

The most common apparel dilemma is choosing between the look and the comfort. One often needs to settle for synthetic fabrics that trap heat, and loud designs that overpower the wearer. It should not be this complicated. So, we sat down to simplify it.

We began with the premise that your clothing should not compete with your personality; it should elevate it. To make your clothing an extension of your personality, proportion, seam, and comfort, all must make their due contribution. As we chose the quiet over the noise, we weaved together essences of comfort and exuberance to make apparel that speaks over the rest without crying out loud.

03 · OUR CRAFT

Our Craft: Sustainable by Design

We’re born from the soil, we go back to it. So, what we wear should also come from it.

All-natural Fibres

We source Mulberry silk blends, handloom cotton, 100% bamboo for our apparel. It guarantees comfort, natural grace, and breathability in the warm Indian climate.

Botanical Dyes

We use only living plants and mineral extract-based dyes. Madder root, natural indigo, gallnut, marigold petals, pomegranate rind, and catechu make our staple palette.

Uniqueness in Every Piece:

We hand-brew our dyes without harsh synthetic stabilizers. So, no two vats come out to be exact in depth and hue. These tonal nuances are the signature of authentic handcraft.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our Philosophy: Art Mimics Life

Before the pencil starts to sketch, before the shears shape the fabric, we look at life. The rough texture of the tree bark, the curved geometry of riverbanks, the soft colours of the soil, and the way the sunlight fills up the vast lands.

This balance of stillness and movement pervades our studio. Every silhouette in our collection is cut with restraint. We study how the warm weathers make natural fabrics like bamboo cotton, linen, silks, etc., drape and feel across your silhouette. We ditch the temporary trends for timelessness. We prefer sophistication over loudness, allowing one piece to move seamlessly across occasions and moods.

THE PURPOSE

The Purpose: Humanizing the Craft

We ground our work in human hands. Each of our pieces comes from several Indian artisans carrying generations of textile wisdom. From reviving the handloom tradition, to hand-brewing dyes, to patiently washing freshly dyed yards under open skies, to a seasoned tailor putting in seams on a cherished sewing machine, our pieces take time to make.

We build clothing for those who have a deep sense of life and the living; who value the invisible hours of care woven into every thread.
